NEW DELHI: Over three lakh students will appear for the Joint Entrance Examination -2008 for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology scheduled to be held on April 13.

Of the 3.2 lakh candidates, around 53, 000 are from the Delhi zone. The country has been divided into seven zones to conduct the JEE- 2008. There are about 4, 000 seats on offer in the seven IITs at Chennai; Delhi; Guwahati; Kanpur; Kharagpur; Mumbai and Roorkee.

“The examination will be conducted at more than 600 centres across the country. In Delhi zone, there will be 117 centres this time,” said IIT, Delhi, Director Surendra Prasad on Sunday, adding that there would be no change in the pattern of the examination.

Last year it was decided to change the pattern by holding two question papers instead of three as was the practice.

The two papers will be of a three-hour duration each, with Paper-1 to be held from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Paper 2 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. next Sunday.

Both the question papers would comprise three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks.
