Gujjars to hold rally in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Akhil Bharatiya Gurjar Sangharsh Samiti has decided to hold a “Rashtriya Gurjar Samman Rally” at Ramlila Ground here on November 3 to press its demand for Scheduled Tribe status in Rajasthan.

Addressing a press conference here over the weekend, Samiti patron and Delhi MLA Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said over 10 lakh Gujjars from across the country are expected to come to the Capital to take part in the rally. The future course of action would be decided at the rally that would be presided over by the Samiti’s national president Sukhbir Singh Jaunpuria.

The rally would also press for raising a separate Gujjar Regiment and an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each to the injured and Rs.10 lakh each to those killed in the police firing in Rajasthan during the Scheduled Tribe status movement.

It would also demand withdrawal of cases against the community members and action against police personnel , Mr. Bidhuri said.
