The term insurance policy of LIC for death cover is being offered free of cost to consumers residing in JJ colonies and to those who will take metered connection from the company.

Tariff subsidy

According to the discom officials, these consumers will also be entitled to avail themselves of the tariff subsidy recently announced by the Delhi Government for metered consumers. There are over 100 JJ clusters in the NDPL area with a consumer base of 30,000.

NDPL Chief Executive Officer Sunil Wadhwa said: “It is just a small gesture to our JJ cluster consumers to communicate that we care for them and their families. We hope that this small step would bring awareness among JJ cluster residents about the need to protect their families against unforeseen eventualities.”

Rs.1 lakh cover

The insurance cover of Rs.1 lakh will not be extended to consumers whose meters are found to be tampered or who have indulged in direct theft of electricity.
