NEW DELHI: All-India Institute of Medical Sciences director Prof. R. C. Deka on Thursday held a meeting with assistant professors of the Institute on various research initiatives.

At the meeting, which was attended by nearly 100 assistant professors, Prof. Deka expressed concern over the pace of research at the Institute. He exhorted the young faculty to take up the challenge of research with a focus on clinical application.

During the hour-long meeting, he invited suggestions from the assistant professors, considered the backbone of the Institute, for making research more time-bound and outcome-oriented.

Prof. Deka reiterated that it would be his endeavour to give the best of facilities to dedicated researchers of the Institute who are serving the nation.

The director specifically laid emphasis on his road map to see that research does not end up in labs alone but eventually translates into clinical benefits for millions of patients in the world. He told the researchers that society looks towards AIIMS for solutions to emerging medical problems and health issues and AIIMS research would have to live up to the expectations.
