HILARIOUS: `Pati Gaye Ree Kathiawar'  

Theatre lovers in the Capital will get another chance to savour good drama this weekend. Hot on the heels of the ongoing Bharat Rang Mahotsav, a nine-day theatre festival titled third Natsamrat Natya Utsav opens at L.T.G. Auditorium at Copernicus Marg on January 20. The festival is being organised by Natsamrat, a creative theatre group.

On the first day, director Shyam Kumar's play "Kambakht Ishq" will be staged. It revolves round a doctor whose two patients are facing peculiar problems despite having no disease.

Showing the funny side of a man-woman relationship is "Pati Gaye Ree Kathiawar" that will be staged the next day. Also on the same day, a hilarious play, "Bade Bhai Sahab and Sudama Ke Chawal", will be shown.

"Panchi Aise Atte Hai", which depicts how love, understanding and motivation can bring out the best in an individual, will be staged on January 22. The storyline of the play revolves round a happy-go-lucky person, who meets a shy girl and gets infatuated by her.

Bringing short stories alive on stage is director Fareed Ahmed who will stage "Comedy Junction" on January 23, while "Operation Three Star" directed by Arvind Gour will be staged the next day.

"Surya Ki Antim Kiran Se Pehli Kiran Tak", jointly directed by Deepak Ochani and Gajraj Nagar, will be presented on January 25.

Both "Bichchhu", which has been directed by Shyam Kumar, and "Kanjoos", which revolves round a miser who has buried ten thousand gold coins in his backyard, will be shown on January 26.

A satire on the state of our universities is "Kal College Band Rahega" written by C. D. Sidhu that will be staged on January 27. Also on the same day another play, "B-Three", penned by Shahid Anwar will be shown. Revolving around a woman whose husband beats her up daily is "Kallu Nai MBBS" that will be presented on January 28. Also the same day, "Waiting for Godot" directed by Wazeem Azad will be staged. -- Madhur Tankha
