200 held to ensure peaceful elections

NEW DELHI: Nearly 200 people have been arrested by the South Delhi police as part of their ongoing drive to ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the Capital.

Twenty-five people have been arrested and 32 cases registered under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act. Besides, 154 people have been arrested under various sections of the Criminal Procedure Code and 23 under the Arms Act. Over a hundred beer bottles, 40 litres of illicit liquor, 20 knives, three country-made pistols and two live cartridges have been seized, the police said on Thursday.
