New Delhi: A Delhi court has sentenced two brothers to life imprisonment for stabbing their 65-year old neighbour to death over a squabble in Dakshinpuri in south Delhi.

Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar also slapped fines of Rs 5,000 each on Sunil and Anil, finding them guilty under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder). Their father Nafe Singh was, however, acquitted of all charges.

According to the complainant and neighbour of convicts Sunder Lal, on September 18, 2000, the accused and his family entered into a squabble. Nafe Singh and his wife allegedly charged at the complainant with `lathis', while the accused fatally stabbed Lal's 65-year old father Budhi Ram with a knife.

They also attacked Lal's brother-in-law Trilok Chand, who survived the assault. Sunil and Anil surrendered before the police on September 23 that year, and have been in judicial custody since. PTI
