Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar said on Tuesday that the State government’s neglect of demands by Maratha youth, raised in a peaceful manner, has led to violence.
Mr. Pawar said, “The demand for reservation has come due to the government’s neglect of agriculture. resultant, the financial losses involved and increasing debt, resulting suicides. Till now, Maratha youth were raising these demands in a peaceful manner, but certain comments by Ministers, especially Chandrakant Patil where he boasted that everything has been done, have infuriated them.
The former Union Agriculture Minister also criticised Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his comment on police reports of ‘releasing snakes among devotees’.
“These people are responsible for worsening the situation.” Mr. Pawar appealed to protesMaratha youth to not resort to violence or inconvenience the common man by vandalising public property.
