The Rabale police have seized 158 kg ganja worth Rs. 23 lakh from a car abandoned by its driver during nakabandi operations.

Around 4 a.m. on Monday, the police had put up barricades at Sector 6 in Ghansoli for a routine check. An unidentified man driving a Skoda car saw the police from a distance, stopped and locked the car, and ran away. “We saw the abandoned car and towed it to the police station. A duplicate key couldn’t be made so we had to break the windowpane to open the door. Around 158 kg ganja worth Rs. 23 lakh was found inside,” assistant police inspector Nitin Pagar said. The car is registered under the name of a chemical company in Belapur. “We are checking if it was stolen,” he said.
