Youth movements urged to unite

American political analyst and researcher Sarah Marusek has said that the colonisation in the modern times is spiritual, cultural and ideological and that the defence against it should be on a similar plane.

The youth movements across the world should come together in such a struggle.

She was speaking after inaugurating the Solidarity Youth spring, being organised as part of the tenth anniversary of the Solidarity Youth Movement here on Friday.

She said that the present state of the youth in the United States is disappointing and that Palestine is a ray of hope in that respect.

Civil Rights lawyer Prashant Bhushan in his keynote address said that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who is eloquent about the country’s rising GDP is silent about its falling human development indices.

The legitimate struggles of people against blind privatisation are being branded by the State as Maoism, Mr. Bhushan said.

Mr. Bhushan said that political alternatives which can bring together all sections of people in the country should be formed.
