THIRUVANANTHAPURAM OCT. 5. More than 100 delegates, including tribals, farmers, scientists and patent experts, are expected to participate in a two-day workshop on Indigenous Knowledge Strategies for Kerala commencing here on October 7.

The workshop is being organised by the Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute here on a World Bank sponsorship.

Addressing a press conference here today, the TBGRI director, G.M. Nair, and the senior scientists, S. Rajasekharan and V. George, said the workshop would kickstart a major effort to document traditional knowledge systems and help protect them from predators.

They said the workshop would try to incorporate indigenous knowledge in various spheres like agriculture, fisheries, architecture, arts and culture, rural technology and veterinary science into the regional development policies.
