ALAPPUZHA DEC. 7. Anish, Panippuravadakkethil House, Kaymakulam, on whose complaint the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) had recently ordered an inquiry into the alleged coercion by the Alappuzha Vigilance to file a fake complaint against a policeman, Ali Akbar, who had been instrumental in the seizure of thousands of litres of spirit and hooch, has said that he was being continuously harassed and threatened by the Vigilance.

According to Mr. Anish, two policemen of the Alappuzha Vigilance came to his house at Kayamkulam on Friday on a motorbike and asked him to sign various papers.

They also promised to give him rewards if he withdrew the statement against the Vigilance, said Anish.

He added that the following his refusal, the policemen threatened him of dire consequences.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Kayamkulam police was inquiring to the complaint of Anish that miscreants at the behest of a Congress leader from Kayamkulam had threatened him near Nangiarkulamgara in the district on November 24 asking him to give evidence against Mr. Ali Akbar.
