Veterinary college to be shifted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 24. The Veterinary College, Pookkode, run by the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) will be shifted to the Pookkode campus in Wayanad district, the KAU Vice-Chancellor, K. V. Peter, today said.

He was speaking at the 89th general council meeting of the KAU here today, according to an official press note.

The University has received permission from the Government to immediately appoint 58 teaching staff at the college. Permission has also been given for the creation of 91 teaching posts at the college.

As per their appointment norms, the new teachers will have to serve at the Pookkode campus for at least five years.

The KAU has ensured that the college at Pookkode satisfies all norms, for such a college, as laid down by the Veterinary Council of India. This is necessary so that the B.V.Sc. and A.H. degree offered by the college gets the Council's recognition, Dr. Peter said.

Centenary

The centenary celebrations of the Veterinary hospital at Kokkala, will be held in a fitting manner, he added.

The written test and interview for appointments to posts which have been notified and for which applications have been received, will be held in a time-bound manner, the member of the executive committee, P. P. George said.
