Veliyam seeks Govt. action

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Sept. 6. The CPI State secretary, Veliyam Bhargavan, has said that students of the Alappuzha medical college were committing suicide because of the Government's failure to take stern action against the college authorities.

In a statement here today, Mr. Bhargavan said it was surprising why the Government had not taken action on the reports of the Assembly Petition Committee about the examination system being followed by the college. Inquiries conducted by the committee had revealed that the suicides were on account of persecution of students by teachers, he pointed out.
