Unions' plea against SC verdict

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Aug. 10. The Kerala NGO Association and the Kerala Government Employees' Union have urged the Centre and various State Governments to move their appeals against the recent Supreme Court verdict making strike in Government services unlawful.

In separate statements here today, the unions also mooted a legislation to protect the Government employees' right to go on strike.

The president of the Kerala NGO Association, Kampara Narayanan, said his union would seek the help of all other service organisations to mobilise political opinion in favour of such a legislation.

The general secretary of the Kerala Government Employees' Union, Sooranad Chandrasekharan, said the verdict had created a lot of concern among the Government employees.
