The Endosulfan Peedhitha Janakeeya Munnani (EPJM) took out a march to the Nenchanparamba locality in protest against the district administration’s failure to clear the earth used to cover a pit where Plantation Corporation of Kerala Ltd. had allegedly deposited endosulfan. (EPMJ had wanted PCKL to remove the earth over the pits so that residents can verify whether endosulfan had been deposited there).

Around 200 people, mostly residents of the place, took part in the march. The police prevented them from accessing the spot. A meeting of the district-level endosuflan rehabilitation cell, chaired by Agriculture Minister K.P. Mohanan, had, on August 31, asked the district administration to clear the earth by September 10 to allay the fears of residents.

The district administration failed to do so, EPJM convener Ambalathara Kunhikrishnan told The Hindu .

The PCKL officials promised the protestors that earth would be cleared in two weeks, he said.
