Tribute to Truffaut

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alliance Francaise De Trivandrum will organise a series of cultural programmes during July-August.

A tribute to Francois Truffaut is one of the major attractions of the programmes scheduled for August. His nine films, `Jules and Jim,' `The Soft Skin,' `The Woman Next Door,' `The Last Metro,' `The 400 Blows,' `Stolen Kisses,' `Two English Girls,' `Bed and Board,' and `Love on the Run' will be screened at the Museum auditorium from August 13 to 15.

Truffaut, an influential film critic, leading new wave director and heir to the humanistic cinematic tradition of Jean Renoir, made films that reflected his love for the medium, an interest in male-female relationships and a fascination for children.

Documentary films, `Les Stars De La Route,' directed by Jean Maurice Ooghee will be screened at Alliance Francaise on July 16.

`The Lesson,' a French play by Eugene Ionesco, will be staged by Abhinaya, theatre group, at Gorky Bhavanam on August 20.

Annie Buisson, lecturer in geographic information systems and quantitative geography at University of Provence, France, will deliver a lecture on the education system of Kerala at Alliance Francaise at 5.30 p.m. on August 10.

She is currently doing research on the same topic at the Centre for Development Studies here.
