Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The trawling ban will come into effect in the State from midnight on June 14 and will be in force for 45 days till July 29.

The Fisheries Minister Dominic Presentation, who announced this here on Monday, said that traditional motorised boats would be allowed to operate during the ban.

He stated that boats from other States would not be allowed to enter the coastal waters of the State during the ban. Such boats that are in the State now should leave before June 14. Round-the-clock patrolling would be conducted to check any violation of the ban. He urged the fish workers and the boat owners to cooperate for the strict and peaceful enforcement of the ban.
