Thrissur City police bag ‘smart’ award

Recognition for welfare project CEED

The Thrissur City police have been selected for the Smart Policing Award, 2021 instituted bytheFederation of IndianChambersof Commerce and Industry(FICCI).TheCentre for Employee Enhancement and Development (CEED), a projectfor the welfare of the police personnel and their families, initiated by theCity Police, has wonitthe award.

The CEED is meant fordealing with service and pensionproceduresof the police personnel andcoordinatingthe welfareactivitiesoftheirfamily members and education of the children.

The programme was launched by ThrissurCity PoliceCommissioner R. Aditya in January, 2020. A study was conducted in association withtheSocial Work department oftheSt. Thomas College, Thrissur, onthe effectiveness of theproject.

Extension across State

As itwasfoundbeneficialfor the police personneland theirfamilies,the State police chief later ordered the extension of the project across theState.

The project hasseveral facilities,includingan office operational 24X7, a website for registeringcomplaintsandgiving suggestions bythe police personnel as well astheirfamilies,and a system to findimmediate solutions to service-related issues.

Initiative deals with service, pension of police personnel and welfare of their families
