Three held for attack on shops

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JUNE 1. The Fort police have arrested three persons in connection with the attack on some shops at Muttathara on Tuesday night. Police identified the accused as Dileep (32), `Kingini' Manoj (28) and `Thackali' Shaji.

Police said the youth had targeted the shops for resisting an extortion bid.

The accused were today produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.

Killed in accident

A 62-year-old man was killed on the spot when the bike which he was riding collided with a lorry at Poovachal, near Kattakkada, on Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Charles, a resident of Irinchal, Pallivetta, Aryanad.

Dies of poisoning

Peethambaran (50), of Thachonam, Vattathaamara, who had been brought to the Medical College Hospital after having ingested poison, died at the hospital on Tuesday.

The body has been kept in the mortuary.


Three persons were injured in a multiple collision involving a mini bus, an autorickshaw and a bike at Vembayam on Tuesday. The injured, Anilkumar (32), Anilkumar (24) and Manikandan (45) are under observation at the Medical College Hospital.
