Speaker's study tour

Speaker of Kerala Assembly Therambil Ramakrishnan is expected to be back in the State capital on Saturday after attending the 51st Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference held at Nada in the Fiji islands from September 4 to 9.

Mr. Ramakrishnan, who was accompanied by his wife, daughter and grandson on the trip, visited Australia and the United States as part of a study tour after the conference. At Washington D.C., Indian Embassy consular Venu Rajamony threw a welcome party for the distinguished guest and his family on September 25.

Some 20-odd prominent Malayalis in Washington attended the function. Mr. Ramakrishnan also had the opportunity to spend a few days at Seattle with his son Harishankar, who is a software engineer with Phillips.
