SFI calls off strike

KOCHI: The Students Federation of India (SFI) has called off the strike at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) after the university Syndicate decided to withdraw the decision to invalidate the election of Prashant D. John as general secretary.

A statement issued by the SFI here on Friday said that the decision came after a six-hour discussion mediated by K. Chandran Pillai, MP.

Vice-Chancellor P.K. Abdul Azis; Pro-Vice-Chancellor N.D. Eanasu; Syndicate members K.G. Balakrishnan and R.S. Sasikumar; SFI district secretary T.V. Pratheesh, among others, attended the meeting.

Dr. Eanasu has been asked to prepare a report on the issue regarding the election of the general secretary. An emergency Syndicate meeting on Wednesday will discuss the report, according to an official media release by the Cusat.
