Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sought urgent Central government intervention to end the lorry strike.

Mr.Vijayan said in an e-mail message to Union Transport Minister Nithin Gadkari on Tuesday that the hurdles in goods movement had affected Kerala, which is a consumer State. Inter-State goods movement had been seriously affected and if the strike continued, it would lead to shortage of essentials and also jack up the prices.

Lorry owners had raised national issues and it was for the Centre to intervene and settle the strike, he said.
