Season of seminars

Over the coming months, the Cochin University of Science And Technology (Cusat) will be organising several seminars including a new initiative on the industry-academic interface through a seminar on resource-based industrialisation of Kerala.

Plasma-2005, the 20th national symposium on Plasma Science and Technology will be organised by the International School of Photonics, Cusat, between December 5 and 7 this year.

The symposium will provide a scientific forum for the presentation of new results and to discuss recent developments in various fields of plasma science and technology. The theme of the symposium is Laser Produced Plasma.

The national seminar will be organised jointly by the International School Of Photonics, Cusat, established as an independent school of learning and research in 1995, and the Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI), a professional body with a large number of members from both academic and research and development organisations.

A new initiative

The International Centre For Economic Policy And Analysis of the Department Of Applied Economics, Cusat, has taken a new initiative in providing Industry-Academic interface through a seminar on resource-based industrialisation of Kerala.

The seminar will be held on Saturday at the Auditorium of the Department of Applied Economics and will be attended, among others, by Thomas Isaac, MLA.


The Department of Physics of Cusat will organise an international conference on Optoelectronic Materials And Thin Films For Advanced Technology (OMTAT-2005) to commemorate the World Year of Physics.

The seminar will be held between October 24 and 27.

Optoelectronic materials and Thin Films play a vital role in Photonic devices and applications. OMTAT-2005 will focus on Transparent Electronics Nanotechnology, Solar materials, luminescent materials and devices, magnetic materials and new materials.
