Sale of drug suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APR. 24. The Vigilance wing of the Drugs Controller's office, which raided the in-house drug store at the SAT Hospital on Friday, seized more bottles of the drug in which fungus had been found.

The sale of the particular drug has been stopped following a direction from the Drugs Controller, the Superintendent of SAT Hospital, K . Rajmohan, said. These bottles have been sent for analysis, he added.

Fungus had been found in one bottle of the Dextrose isolate, which had been bought for a two-and-a-half-year-old leukaemia patient at the Regional Cancer Centre on Thursday.

Dr. Rajmohan said that fungus growth was a common problem in dextrose.
