Protest against Narendran panel report

KOLLAM, AUG.14 . The Akhila Kerala Brahmana Federation has warned of stiff resistance if the Government went ahead with the move to implement the recommendations of the Narendran Commission Report.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Federation held here on Thursday. The chairman of the federation, N. Hariharan, presided over the meeting.

Violation of rights

In a statement, the general convener of the federation, N.K. Balasubramaniam, said the meeting observed that even those communities that had achieved educational and economic progress were "unjustifiably" continuing to enjoy many benefits.

Mr. Balasubramaniam said the locus standi of the Narendran Commission was debatable as the Commission was constituted by overruling a Supreme Court directive. Implementing the Narendran Commission recommendations would be tantamount to destroying some of the fundamental aspects enshrined in the Constitution, he said.
