Private buses to keep off roads in district

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators' Association has decided not to operate any buses in the city from Monday night in view of the State-wide strike announced by bus operators.

M.B. Satyan, general secretary of the association, said on Monday that the Government had failed to resolve the problems faced by bus operators. "We were forced to announce the strike after the Government refused to hike bus fare. The fare has not been hiked even after the price of diesel went up in the last few months. The Government has also failed to bring about changes in the concession offered to students travelling in private buses," he said.
