New clinics at General Hospital

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JUNE 1. A neurology clinic, epilepsy clinic and neuro surgery outpatient division would start functioning at the General Hospital (GH) from Wednesday, the Health Minister, Kadavoor Sivadasan, has said.

This is the first time in the State and in the history of the Health Department that speciality clinics are being set up at hospitals other than Medical College Hospitals (MCHs), the Minister said.

The speciality clinics are being set up as part of the scheme to strengthen hospitals in the periphery, so that the MCHs can be maintained as a referral centre.

The neurology clinic will function on Mondays and Thursdays and the epilepsy clinic on Wednesdays at the GH from 8 a.m. till 11 a.m.

The neuro surgery outpatient division will function on Tuesdays and Fridays and a head injury clinic on Saturdays, from 8 a.m. till 11 a.m., the Minister, said.
