Navy Band enthrals evening crowds

KOCHI, NOV. 29. The evening crowds of Kochi were treated to a live session of music by the Navy Band today.

Hundreds of people had gathered at Durbar Hall Grounds to listen to the Navy Band play popular music of yesterday and today. The Minister for Fisheries and Sports, Dominic Presentation, inaugurated the programme.

The Navy Band is called the Symphonic Band as it plays not only martial tunes at parades but also various other kinds of music as symphony orchestra during concerts.

The band comprised 45 musicians playing woodwind such as flute, oboe, clarinet and saxes; brass such as cornet, French horn and trombone; and rhythm instruments such as timpani, jazz drum, glockenspiel and xylophone.
