Mobile phone theft: four held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG 21 . The Thampanoor police have arrested four persons in connection with the theft of a mobile telephone.

The arrested were identified as Rafeeq (19), Shafeeq (20), Shameer (19) and Hashim (20). The Sub Inspector (Thampanoor), K. Saseendran Nair, said the four had been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by one Kabeer. According to the police, Kabeer's mobile telephone was snatched when he was coming out of a cinema in the Thampanoor area.

Body found

The body of a 60-year-old woman was fished out of a public well at Kadackavoor on Saturday afternoon. The police identified the deceased as Gomathy Amma. The body was taken out with the help of the Fire Force. The rural police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Fisherman missing

A 48-year-old fisherman hailing from Thankassery in Kollam was reported missing at sea after his boat capsized off the coast of Kappil, near Varkala, on Saturday morning. The police identified him as Babu (48).

Life imprisonment

A 48-year-old man, who was found guilty of the murder of Sudhakaran (30) of Peringamala, was today sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life by the Second Additional Sessions Judge, B. Sudheendra Kumar.
