Medical officers plan agitation

KOCHI: The Government medical officers under the auspices of Kerala Government Medical Officers' Association will launch a non-cooperation agitation in protest against the treatment meted out to them in the new pay panel recommendations.

Association president Sunny P. Orathel said at a press conference that the recommendations amounted to humiliating the doctors.

The pay-scale of assistant surgeons after the revision was less than the earlier one.

The salary after the grade promotion would also be less than the previous one. In contrast, other categories of employees such as Administrative Assistants and Administrative Officers were benefited from the new pay-scale.

The contract doctors would be getting a better pay than the Government Medical Officers, he said.
