Malayalappuzha temple festival from March 1

PATHANAMTHITTA, FEB. 26. The annual temple festival at the famous Devi temple in Malayalappuzha will be held between March 1 and 11, according to the Temple Advisory Committee (TAC).

Addressing a press conference here today, the TAC president, Malayalappuzha Gopalakrishnan, and the secretary, V.S.Harishchandran, said the temple Tantri, Adimuttathu Sukumara Bhattathiripad, would hoist the ceremonial flag as part of the `Kodiyettu' ceremony marking the beginning of the 11-day festival at 7.30 p.m.

The auspicious `Ustavabali' will be performed at the temple at 2 p.m. from March 2 to 5.

The `Vilakinezhunnellathu', a special ritual during the annual festival, will be held from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on March 7, 8 and 9, according to the TAC leaders.

The `Pallivetta' procession will begin at 9 p.m. on March 10. The annual festival will come to a close with an `Arattu' ceremony on March 11 evening.
