KERALA

Magic fete

It is billed as a `rare fare" of traditional magic. The Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Department of Cultural Affairs and a magic training centre, Magic Academy, have joined hands to organise "Mazma", the national festival of street magicians in the city in November.

Being organised as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of Kerala attaining Statehood, the fete is aimed at highlighting the glorious Indian heritage in the art of magic. "Mazma" would be a means for tracing the flag-bearers of the indigenous magic and getting them together on a platform of dignity, according to magician Gopinanth Muthuukad.

At the festival, the competitions would aim at kindling the inherent talent of street magicians.
