‘Results reflect erosion of values in politics’

KANNUR: Communist Party of India (Marxist) Central Committee member E.P. Jayarajan has said that the election results reflected erosion of values in politics.

Addressing a gathering at Payyambalam here to mark the fifth death anniversary of former Chief Minister E.K. Nayanar, Mr. Jayarajan said that election of Congress candidate K. Sudhakaran from Kannur and Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthpuram exemplified the erosion of values in politics. He also said that the victory of CPI(M) candidates in four seats in the State was no small achievement given the fact that imperialist forces and the ‘media syndicates’ had joined hands to defeat the Left.

Stating that reactionary forces were very strong in the State, Mr. Jayarajan said that electoral setback was not new to the Left forces. The Left parties would go ahead by correcting their mistakes, he added.

CPI(M) leader M.V. Govindan presided.
