‘Kadavallur Anyonyam’ enters fourth day

THRISSUR: Various rites were performed at the ‘Kadavallur Anyonyam,’ a contest for Vedic scholars, on Monday. ‘Rig Veda Laksharchana’ began at the Kadavallur Sree Ramaswamy Temple at 6 a.m. ‘Varamirikkal’ was performed in the evening.

Minister for Agriculture Mullakkara Ratnakaran presented the Vachaspati Puraskaram and Vedabandhu Puraskaram to Karuvattu Vasudevan Bhattathiripad at the Kadavallur Anonyam on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that promoting Sanskrit was the best way to preserve India’s traditions. Poet Akkitham presided. P.V. Ramankutty delivered a lecture in remembrance of Punnassery Neelakanta Sarma. “Sarma fought caste divide. He initiated Dalits into the world of learning.” Vedic scholars took part in the ‘Vachyartha Sadassu’ at 11.30 a.m. Thripunithura Krishna Kumar presided. Rajan Ennazhi, K.P. Sreedevi, N.K. Sundaraswaran, C. K. Jayanti, K. M. Sangamesan, T. Arya Devi, M. Renjini, K. Soumya, K. Deepa took part.

‘Kadavallur Anyonyam’ will conclude on November 26.
