LIC development officers to return vehicles

ALAPPUZHA, NOV. 29. Development officers of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) in the State will return vehicles provided on loan to them by the management on December 1.

This is in protest against the curbs imposed by the management on perks to employees, leaders of the National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India said.

In a statement here today, the Kottayam divisional secretary of the federation, Jacob Kusumalayam, said the decision was part of an all-India level protest programme.

The LIC had recently stopped providing travelling allowance to development officers. Because of that, they would not be able to use vehicles for official purposes, Mr. Kusumalayam said.

He said that the travelling allowance given to employees now was insufficient. The management decision is unilateral. It will weaken LIC, he said.

The development officers will organise dharnas on December 1, Mr. Kusumalayam said.
