`LDF has no right to demand Minister's ouster'

KOCHI, DEC. 6. The CPI(M)'s agitation demanding the ouster of the Industries Minister, P.K. Kunhalikutty, from the Cabinet was meaningless, said the KPCC vice-president, A.C. Jose, here today.

Addressing newspersons at the Ernakulam Press Club, he said the trend to resort to violence and destruction of property should be discouraged. "The stir demanding the Minister's ouster in connection with the Kozhikode ice-cream parlour case was politically motivated. The LDF Government had closed the case seven years back. Raking up the issue once again is not proper. Thus, none in the LDF has the right to demand Kunhalikutty's resignation on moral grounds," he said.

The ongoing stir has affected routine Governmental work, he alleged.

To a question on why he was blaming only the LDF, when women's organisations, a sizeable section of the Congress, BJP, Youth Congress and the KSU too were demanding the Minister's resignation, he said the YC and the KSU were independent bodies. The KPCC would intervene if they crossed the limit, he said.
