LDF Government blamed for closure of cashew factories

KOLLAM, APRIL 24. The pro-UDF cashew trade unions today held the previous LDF Government responsible for the closure of the public sector cashew factories. At a press conference here today, leaders of various UDF trade unions said that instead of welcoming the announcement that the public sector cashew factories would be reopened on May 6, the pro-LDF trade union leaders were acting in an irresponsible manner.

The press conference was addressed by the INTUC leader, V. Sathyaseelan, the KTUC (Jacob) leader, Vakanad Radhakrishnan, the AICTU leader, Chakuvarakkal Chandran, the UTUC(B) leader, N. Ramachandran, and the JSS leader, Sajee Somarajan.

They dismissed as baseless the allegations by the Left trade unions that the reopening of the public sector cashew factories was only an election gimmick.
