KU to confer D.Litt on Jesudas

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM NOV. 7. The University of Kerala has decided to confer a D.Litt on the noted playback singer, K.J. Jesudas.

The decision, taken by the university's Syndicate at its meeting today, will be sent to the Senate for its approval. It was the Vice-Chancellor, B. Ekbal, who mooted the proposal at the Syndicate meeting.

The meeting placed on record its felicitations to the Head of the Department of Economics, G. Karunakaran Pillai, who has been selected as a member of the UGC.

The Vice-Chancellor informed the Syndicate that the Government had accorded sanction to fill up 50 per cent of the vacancies in the teaching posts in the university.

Today's meeting discussed the report of the Syndicate sub-committee that probed the management dispute at the KNM KNMS training college.
