KU dept. organising lecture series

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Nov. 24. The Department of Economics of Kerala University is organising a lecture series in connection with the forthcoming 85th annual conference of the Indian Economic Association here from December 27 to 29.

The lecture series was inaugurated by the Kerala State Beverages Corporation managing director, T. P. Senkumar, on November 8.

The organising secretary, G. Karunakaran Pillai, said in a press release here today that three lectures were being held on November 25. Ravi, the adviser to the State Government on sustainable development, will deliver the keynote address.

Balagopal, a former IAS officer, will deliver a lecture on `College, universities -- learning experiences' on November 27. The DIG, Armed Police Battalion, will deliver a lecture on the `Challenges of the Indian civil service in the new millennium' on November 29.

All these lectures, to be held at the Economics Department hall, Kariyavattom, from 2 p.m. will be followed by interactive sessions with the guests, the release said.
