Kerala Library Association plea

The 42{+n}{+d}annual conference of the Kerala Library Association has called upon the government to create post of librarian in all higher secondary schools and complete recruitment at the earliest.

A resolution moved at the conference on Wednesday said the government had decided to create posts of 205 higher secondary schoolteachers, 448 junior higher secondary schoolteachers and 16 laboratory assistants, among others.

After delinking pre-degree from colleges and implementing the higher secondary system in 2000-2001, library facilities had been denied to students. The posts of librarians had not been created so far. The conference elected A. Gopikuttan president, M.Lalitha general secretary, V.Sreeram treasurer, and M.Chandrakumaran Nair vice-president.
