KEEC to oppose move

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The INTUC-affiliated Kerala Electricity Employees' Confederation (KEEC) on Wednesday said it would oppose any move on the part of the State Government to hand over power distribution business to the private sector.

In a press release here, KEEC president Thampanur Ravi alleged that the LDF Government had initiated steps to surrender to private companies the rights to handle power distribution business in Kannur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and Idukki. This Rs.220-crore deal was being pushed by the Electricity Department without even discussing it in the Cabinet, he alleged. Special Correspondent
