I was not sacked from YC post, says Shafi

Shafi Parambil, MLA, who represents Palakkad Assembly constituency, on Monday denied reports that appeared in a section of media claiming that he was sacked from the post of national general secretary of Youth Congress (YC), the youth wing of Congress.

Quoting an email from Youth Congress All-India president Keshav Chand Yadav, Mr Shafi said that he had resigned from the post with the permission of the national leadership to concentrate further on his constituency.

“I wish to concentrate further in the constituency as a responsible Congress worker and an MLA,”' he said in a statement here.

As per the news reports, Mr Shafi was sacked following allegations that he had accepted money from certain Congress leaders in Karnataka for sanctioning them seats in the recently concluded Assembly election.

Mr Shafi was in-charge of some constituencies in Karnataka.
