Heavy rush at Sabarimala

PATHANAMTHITTA Nov. 24. The Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala witnessed heavy rush today as thousands of devotees thronged the holly hillock during the weekend.

The devotees had to wait in the long winding queues that had extended up to Saramkutti on the trekking path for the holly darsan at the temple in the early hours.

According to the TDB sources, a majority of the pilgrims who visited the hill shrine today were from the State and they had to wait for about three hours in the queue for darshan.

Meanwhile, a traffic congestion along the Nilackkal-Pampa stretch of the main truck road to Sabarimala in the wee hours of today caused much hardship to the pilgrims.

The long line of vehicles trapped in the traffic jam had extended to about 13 k.m. from Chalakkayam tollgate at about 2 a.m.
