HC raps govt. for delay in issuing order

The Kerala High Court has slammed the State government for not issuing an order directing all revenue authorities to mention the nature of land when they issue possession certificates on assigned land.

Justice A. Muhammed Mustaque had earlier directed the government to issue such an order to prevent conversion and constructions on assigned agricultural land, when a case filed by an assignee against the denial of possessions certificate came up for hearing.

Within a week

The court also ordered the Revenue Principal Secretary to issue within a week a directive to all revenue authorities in the State to mention in the possession certificate the purpose for which the land was assigned.

The court observed that such an endorsement of the revenue authorities on the certificate would enable local bodies to refuse building permits for construction on the land assigned for specific purposes such as agriculture.
