`Follow teachings of Guru'

THRISSUR, AUG. 14. Communal disturbances can be prevented if people follow the teachings of spiritual masters such as Sree Narayana Guru, Justice K. Thankappan, judge of the Kerala High Court, has said.

Inaugurating a camp on Sree Narayana philosophy, held here on Saturday as part of `Guruvarsham - 150', Mr. Thankappan said that the Marad incident could have been prevented if the communities involved had seriously practised spiritual doctrines.

``You serve God when you serve man. This is the spiritual import of Vedanta. Every religion conveys the same message.''

Mr. Thankappan said that a centre should be set up to coordinate research on Sree Narayana Guru and his philosophy.

K. V. Peter, Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala Agricultural University, K. K. Rahulan, former president, SNDP Yogam, T. R. Vijayakumar, vice-chairman, Guru Bhavan, and M. N. Pavitran, district president, Sree Narayana Divya Satsanga Samithy, were among those present on the occasion.
