Experts who spoke at a seminar on seafood safety, trade and management organised by the School of Industrial Fisheries at Cochin University of Science and Technology here suggested that Indian seafood industry needs to develop a more product-oriented strategy focussed on branding and quality to further improve the exports from the country.
A release issued here quoted the participants as stating that Indian seafood industry is still concentrating on the export of conventional frozen products, while other seafood exporting nations have shifted their focus to value-added products.
