Fishermen to get land at Thottapally

Title deeds of new plots of land will be handed over soon to 21 families of fishermen who lost their homes in sea erosion at Purakkad. The plots have been allotted at Thottapally. The affected people have been staying in various rehabilitation centres.

District Collector R. Girija recently visited the spot at Thottapally where the plots have been identified. The individual house plots are to be demarcated by month-end.

Those who want to move out of the rehabilitation centres and make temporary arrangements for stay at the new plots will be free to do so. The fishermen could utilize the aid being extended by the Fisheries Department for construction of houses. The fishermen can avail aid to the tune of Rs. two lakh per household.
