Farmers given a raw deal: IFDP

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 29. The Indian Federal Democratic Party (IFDP) staged a fast in front of the Government Secretariat today, highlighting the woes of the farmers in the State.

Speaking on the occasion, its chairman, P. C. Thomas, MP, accused the State Government of neglecting the cause of the agricultural community. The previous NDA-led Government at the Centre had allotted Rs. 320 crores for providing relief to the coconut cultivators, out of which Rs. 140 crores went into the pockets of intermediaries, he charged.
