Fake Indian currency seized

Thrissur: The Town East police, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police M.R. Manian, on Saturday arrested eight persons on charges of possessing and circulating fake Indian currency in Rs.100 denomination.

The police said they seized 307 fake notes from Ravi, 32, of Varadiyam Nananzhi House, Sajai, 30, of Killannur Ajitha Bhavan, Jaison, 34, of Kolazhi Mulakkan House, Sajeev, 35, of Thrissur Gopika Nilayam, Lateef, 32, of Meleppatil House, Perumbilavu, Sivan, 27, of Arimbra House, Kaniyambal, Kunnamkulam, Siddique, 36, of Cholayil House, Thoovoor, Malappuram, and Gopalakrishnan, 49, of Meleppurayil House, Thoovoor, Malappuram.

Theft at church

The Erumappetty police on Saturday said that property valued at Rs.75,000 was missing from the St. George Church in Mangad.

An amplifier, tape-recorder and microphone are among the missing things. A shutter near the altar and a door of the office were found broken open.

Money was also stolen from the altar, the police said.
